Rotary Young Citizens Award

The Mayor met with Tony Robinson from the Rotary Club of Falmouth who, with the support of Falmouth Town Council, are setting up an annual Young Citizens Award. The award will go to a young Falmouth resident of secondary school age who has contributed to the local community by working with a voluntary organisation, assisting with town projects or helping with the vulnerable. The award will be presented by the Mayor of Falmouth in late July and the names of the recipients kept in a Book of Honour.

BLUE FLAG FOR GYLLYNGVASE BEACH

Gyllyngvase Beach had the Blue Flag hoisted this week by the Mayor, Councillor John Body and Richard Coad, Regional Sales Manager of Cornwall’s Rock based Sharp’s Brewery who are playing a key role in protecting five Cornish beaches with 5p of every pint sold of Sharp’s 2015 limited edition beers ‘Rockpool’, ‘Rising Tide’, ‘Offshore’ and ‘Point Break’ will go towards the initiative and the support of Polzeath, Trevone, Porthtowan, Porthmeor and Gyllyngvase beaches. The Blue Flag status is an international ranking given to the best beaches in Europe.
