The National Association of Local Councils (NALC) sent its Larger Councils Committee to come on board at Falmouth, Cornwall, and visit this historic town in a fact-finding mission on Tuesday 7th July. Falmouth is situated on the south coast of Cornwall and is one of the county’s most diverse, vibrant and largest towns.

A public Planning Consultation for site at Middlepoint will take place in the Town Council Chamber of the Municipal Buildings on the Moor in Falmouth on Friday 10th July 2015 from 2pm to 8pm. The consultation will give members of the public an opportunity to view proposed plans for the site.

The Mayor met with Tony Robinson from the Rotary Club of Falmouth who, with the support of Falmouth Town Council, are setting up an annual Young Citizens Award. The award will go to a young Falmouth resident of secondary school age who has contributed to the local community by working with a voluntary organisation, assisting with town projects or helping with the vulnerable. The award will be presented by the Mayor of Falmouth in late July and the names of the recipients kept in a Book of Honour.

Gyllyngvase Beach had the Blue Flag hoisted this week by the Mayor, Councillor John Body and Richard Coad, Regional Sales Manager of Cornwall’s Rock based Sharp’s Brewery who are playing a key role in protecting five Cornish beaches with 5p of every pint sold of Sharp’s 2015 limited edition beers ‘Rockpool’, ‘Rising Tide’, ‘Offshore’ and ‘Point Break’ will go towards the initiative and the support of Polzeath, Trevone, Porthtowan, Porthmeor and Gyllyngvase beaches. The Blue Flag status is an international ranking given to the best beaches in Europe.
