Apply to take over the Gallery’s exhibition space in Autumn/Winter 2026

Falmouth Art Gallery today announces its new and exciting Artist Takeover opportunity, inviting artists or collectives working in all art forms and mediums to apply to take over the Gallery space during a series of available slots in Autumn/Winter 2026.

Applications are welcome from emerging and established Cornwall-based artists or collectives to take over the Gallery’s exhibition rooms with a new event, exhibition or something experimental to test in a public space.

All art forms and mediums will be considered. Ideas should align with the project aims which include:

  • Starting meaningful conversations between artists, the Gallery and the community.
  • Helping to reflect on the Gallery’s identity and role in the community.
  • Exploring fresh perspectives and ways to experience the arts.
  • Celebrating and supporting creativity, innovation and social conscience/awareness.
  • Being socially engaged – through the artwork itself, considered collaborations, thought-provoking interpretation or integrated workshops and events linking to the Gallery’s community engagement programme.

There are four exhibition takeover slots and one event takeover slot available as part of the opportunity, which will run at the Gallery from October 2026 to January 2027. Successful applicants will receive production budget and exhibiting fees, in addition to benefiting from a package of technician, curatorial, engagement and marketing support provided by Gallery staff.

Donna Westlake, Access and Interpretation Manager at Falmouth Art Gallery said: “As a Gallery at the heart of the community, we are passionate about providing accessible opportunities and a platform for artists in Cornwall to showcase their work. Artist Takeover is a way for us to both support artists and deepen the Gallery’s connection with the community. We’re excited to see where it takes us and encourage artists or collectives with an idea to get in touch.”
