Where are we?
An exhibition exploring art and technology in Cornwall
17 MAY – 27 SEPTEMBER 2025
Free Entry
Art and innovation go hand in hand. Technology has always provided creative people with original forms of expression. Immersive installations and exhibitions are becoming increasingly popular across the world. Museums and galleries are also using new technology, such as AR (augmented reality), to display and interpret collections in new ways.
Falmouth has a strong connection to automata (moving mechanical artworks) and our gallery is home to one of the largest contemporary automata collections. This long-standing local interest in art and technology is echoed across Cornwall, where organisations like Falmouth University, Screen Cornwall, and Co-Motion are supporting artists through innovative courses and initiatives that encourage experimentation with emerging technologies.
This exhibition celebrates art and technology in Cornwall, with a specific focus on new media such as robotics, immersive installations and virtual reality. It’s one of eight in a series, each exploring different art forms, as we discover what resonates with our visitors. Your thoughts play a big part in shaping what we do next. In Room 3, you’ll find our feedback point. Please let us know if you’d like to see more of this type of work in future exhibitions.
