Annual Civic Events in Falmouth

There are a number of events that take place every year in Falmouth that form the basis of the civic calendar:

Mayor Making

The Annual Council Meeting of the members of the Council takes place in May every year and is when the Town Mayor and Deputy Town Mayor are officially elected. The Mayor Making ceremony takes place immediately after the Annual Council Meeting and is usually held at the Princess Pavilion.

The next Annual Council Meeting and Mayor Making will be taking place in May 2027.

Civic Service

The Civic Service is held each year after the mayor making ceremony. The service celebrates the inauguration of the new Town Mayor and is attended by civic heads and all sections of Falmouth’s communities.

This Civic year (May 2026 – May 2027) the Civic Service will take place on: Sunday 18 October 2026.

Sea Sunday

Sea Sunday takes place each year in July and is an important date in the civic calendar that recognises the Towns rich maritime traditions, and particularly its strong naval links.

The parade, which consists of the Falmouth Royal Naval Association, Standard Bearers, Town Councillors and other organisations, forms up on the Moor Piazza and marches to the Parish Church, King Charles the Martyr, for a Service. The parade then reforms following the service and marches back to The Moor for the official salute.

This year, Sea Sunday is taking place on: Sunday 19 July 2026.

Remembrance Sunday

Remembrance Sunday is held nationally each year on the nearest Sunday to the 11th November. A short local service at Kimberley Park provides Falmouth’s residents with the opportunity to formally pay tribute to all those who have given their lives in the service of this country.

This year, Remembrance Sunday is taking place on: Sunday 8 November 2025.
