Emergency Resilience
In An Emergency
Local emergency response arrangements
In major emergencies either Cornwall Council or the emergency services will lead the response depending on the nature of the incident. In Falmouth, Falmouth Town Council does not lead the emergency response.
If local support is needed, Cornwall Council or the emergency services may ask us to assist. In those situations, we will support the Emergency Management team and share updates with residents through our usual communication channels.
Emergency Alerts and Emergency Preparedness
In the event of a national emergency, you may receive an Emergency Alert on your mobile phone or tablet. Emergency Alerts are used to warn you if there is an immediate risk to life nearby and to provide clear advice on what to do.
About Emergency Alerts
Emergency Alerts can be sent by the UK Government, the police, or Cornwall Council.
These organisations do not need to know your phone number to send you an alert. Alerts are sent to mobile phones and tablets in an affected area based on the device’s current location. You do not need to turn on location services to receive Emergency Alerts.
