Local people and organisations, with support from Falmouth Town Council, created the Falmouth Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP).

The local community endorsed the Neighbourhood Development Plan in a referendum on 19th August 2021. Now, Cornwall Council actively uses it to guide planning decisions.

What is a Neighbourhood Development Plan?

A Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP) serves as a planning document, containing policies that integrate into the Local Development Plan. Cornwall Council uses these policies to guide future planning decisions.

What are the benefits of having a Neighbourhood Development Plan?

NDPs empower communities to create planning policies for local development. Through these plans, communities can decide where to build new homes, shops, and offices, and influence the design of new developments.

Neighbourhood planning gives local people a powerful set of tools to plan for future development to meet their community’s needs.
