Falmouth proudly marked Sea Sunday on Sunday 20 July with a civic parade and church service to honour all those who live and work at sea.

Organised by the Falmouth Royal Naval Association, with support from Falmouth Town Council, the event brought together veterans, civic guests, local organisations, and residents to celebrate our town’s proud maritime heritage and show appreciation for seafarers past and present.

Led by Pendennis Brass, the parade made its way to King Charles the Martyr Church, where a reflective service was conducted by the Bishop of Truro, the Right Revd David Williams, supported by the Mayor’s Chaplain, the Revd Geoffrey Davis.

Following the return to The Moor, the parade was officially received by Deputy Lieutenant Kim Conchie, Town Mayor Councillor Alan Jewell, and Commodore Tris Kirkwood OBE ADC RN, Naval Regional Commander for Wales, the West of England and the Channel Islands.

Following the parade’s inspection, the Mayor had the pleasure of presenting a Falmouth Plaque to Lieutenant Commander Ian Stobie MBE RN (Rtd), in recognition of his dedicated service to the Falmouth Royal Naval Association and his long-standing involvement in the town’s civic life. Ian will soon be emigrating to Australia to be closer to his family, and we wish him all the very best as he begins this next chapter.

Thank you to everyone who supported and took part in this meaningful occasion.
