Falmouth is ready to sparkle this holiday season with a delightful array of festive events that aims to bring joy and cheer to residents and visitors alike. From the community favourite Festive Weekend to the colourful Christmas Tree Festival, the Town Team and its partners, despite challenges that continue to affect town centres, are organising a packed festive calendar.
And this year, a sprinkling of new activities have been added to the calendar, to complement the well-regarded annuals. So, what can people expect?
Christmas Lights Switch-on – 7pm, Thursday 28 November, The Moor, TR11 4RT
- Kickstarting the countdown to Christmas, the grand switch-on is one of the most anticipated events in the Christmas calendar and marks the official start to the festive season in Falmouth.
- Hundreds of people will gather in town to witness the community nominee illuminate Falmouth and singalong with local schoolchildren as they perform carols and Christmas songs, following a colourful parade through town.
- With performances from choirs on either side of the 7pm switch-on, this event promises to be an unforgettable evening filled with festive cheer.
Christmas Tree Festival, Princess Pavilion – Sunday 1 December to Thursday 2 January
- Community groups will carefully decorate their trees with a chosen theme.
- All the trees are then illuminated in a grand switch-on celebration on Sunday 1st December and will remain on display at the Princess Pavilion until Thursday 2nd January.
- Make sure you find time to appreciate this spectacle!
Harmony Choir – Tuesday 24 December (Christmas Eve)
- Falmouth’s Harmony Choir will once again fill the streets of Falmouth with festive song as they have done for over 100 years.
- The choir will congregate near Five Cyderhouse before making their way through town, entertaining the crowds with their Cornish carols, before finishing at The Moor at around 12.30pm.
- There will be two informal practices at the Sports Club on Sunday 1st and Sunday 15th December, offering a great opportunity for anyone wishing to get involved, to meet other choir members and familiarise yourself with traditional Cornish carols.
In addition to the festive favourites, there will be new activity and offers:
- The Poly Christmas Market – Friday 6 to Sunday 8 December
You will find a selection of unique gifts created by local artists and craftspeople, giving you the opportunity to find that perfect gift. - Falmouth Art Gallery – Saturday 7 December
