Falmouth Pilot Gig Club Launch of New Boat ‘Arwenack’

On 12th January 2019, Falmouth Pilot Gig Club launched their new Pilot Gig ‘Arwenack’ at the Watersports Centre in Falmouth, Cornwall.

Club members past & present plus supporters gathered at the water’s edge to see the brand new Cornish Pilot Gig built by Peter Williams and blessed by Revd. Jon Robertshaw from The Mission to Seafarers which was launched officially for her first outing on the water.

Deputy Mayor Councillor Tony Parker stated it was a pleasure for me to attend, be part of the occasion and represent Falmouth Town Council and the Community.

Council Proposes Changes to Car Parks

Charges in Cornwall Council-run car parks, prohibiting overnight camping in motorhomes in more car parks and changes to reserved permits are being considered under a range of proposals by the Council. The Council today published a statutory notice inviting comments on proposals to: • increase car park charges by 3.1% in line with the rate of inflation • change Reserved Permits to reflect feedback, with prices to be tiered according to the number of vehicles a permit may be used in • respond to local concerns and ban overnight camper vans in more Cornwall Council car parks

Safer, Cleaner, Greener: Falmouth Town Council speaks out about anti-social parking

As car owners, we can generally park anywhere as long as we do not break the law by contravening restrictions that are in place. However, with an increasing number of households being shared and families owning multiple vehicles, car parking has become a major issue in towns and cities across the country, and Falmouth is no exception with its diverse population and narrow streets.

First Poppy Laying

The Mayor, Councillor Grenville Chappel, laid the first poppy at the Remembrance Garden, The Municipal Buildings on Friday to mark the start of this year Acts of Remembrance. A small service was attended by Councillors, Veterans and members of the public. This year’s Acts of Remembrance marks 100 years since the end of the First World War.

ABANDONED VEHICLES

Safer, Cleaner, Greener: Falmouth Town Council offers advice about abandoned vehicles. With the introduction of charges for the disposal of redundant vehicles and a fall in the value of scrap metal, there has been a significant increase in the number of vehicles being abandoned across the UK.
