Mike Rangecroft thanked for his contribution to Falmouth

Falmouth’s previous Town Mayor Grenville Chappel recently thanked Mike Rangecroft for his contribution towards the vitality of the town, with a celebratory lunch in the Mayor’s Parlour. Grenville said; “ Falmouth Town Council wanted to thank Mike for all his hard work and commitment to developing a great number of successful events in Falmouth over so many years. The Council wishes Mike all the best in his retirement”. Mike came to Falmouth in 1960 having being assigned a ship as a first trip navigating apprentice with the BP Tanker Company.

Garden Hand Tools Repair and Reuse Project

Transition Falmouth are currently promoting the Garden Hand Tools Repair and Reuse Project run by the Conservation Foundation.

Up to just recently, the only dedicated collection point in Cornwall for old, broken and unwanted garden hand tools has been at the Eden Project, but now there are 4 more - including the Falmouth/Penryn Household Waste & Recycling Centre located off the A394 between Mabe and Longdowns.

Prislow Fields Improvements

Town Mayor Councillor Steve Eva, Deputy Mayor Councillor Minson and Councillor Parker, Belinda Edwards (CC Landscape Architect), members of Cormac, Community Volunteers and residents celebrated the completion of improvements at Prislow Fields on Saturday. The improvements were funded by local developments in the area and carried out by a partnership of Cornwall Council, Cormac and Falmouth Town Council in consultation with local residents.

Dracaena Outdoor Gym

Town Mayor Councillor Steve Eva cut the ribbon at the official opening of the outdoor gym facility at Dracaena Fields on Friday. He said that ‘Outdoor gyms are becoming increasingly popular, with residents visiting their parks and green spaces to use these fitness facilities. It was a further stage in the improvement of facilities at the site and he was pleased the Town Council could provide it’. He thanked Cornwall Council for allocating Section 106 funding and Environment Portfolio Councillor Rob Nolan attended, as did equipment provider Proludic.

Town Mayor Past Mayor Presentation to Geoffrey Evans MBE

Town Mayor Steve Eva presented Geoffrey Evans MBE with a mayoral insignia at the Council meeting on Monday evening to recognise his past service. Geoffrey has served as Town Mayor on 12 occasions since 1976 and remains a serving councillor for the Town and Cornwall Councils. Fittingly the presentation was made in the Council Chamber under the gaze of Geoffrey's mayoral portrait.

SIGNING OF THE ARMED FORCES COVENANT

The Council recently resolved to adopt the Armed Forces Covenant and uphold the principles therein recognising the value serving personnel, reservists, veterans and military families bring to the community. The Mayor, Councillor Grenville Chappel, and Brigadier Fraser MBE, Regional Commander for Wales and Western England signed the Armed Forces Covenant at a meeting in the Mayor’s Parlour.
