The Mayor of Falmouth, Councillor Geoffrey Evans CC was delighted to welcome Jenny Ellis to the Mayor’s Parlour to celebrate her success at the England Youth Fencing Championships which were held in Hertford in June, where she became the England Under 11 Girls Sabre Champion.
To achieve this title Jenny, who is now 11, fenced 7 girls and won 6 out of the 7 duals in the initial round robin, she then received a bye in the quarter finals, won her semi final and was victorious in the final against the competitor who had beaten her in the round robin duals. She was cheered on by a big crowd and is delighted to have brought the title back to Falmouth.
Jenny trains with the Truro Fencing Club and was ranked 8th in the country at the start of the competition. Jenny will soon be back competing in a forthcoming competition in Wellington, Somerset.
The Mayor said ‘ Jenny is a future star of Olympics and I forward to seeing her represent Falmouth and Great Briton at the 2020 Olympic Games’.
