Popular Shuttle Bus Service Upgraded

Falmouth’s community Shuttle Bus that joins two key parts of the Town Centre has been upgraded to provide a more accessible service. The updated bus will be in operation from Monday 7th May and although the same size as its predecessor, it is a great improvement with twin opening doors and step free entry, making access far easier.

The Town Council contribute £10,000 annually towards the running costs of this popular community service and Cornwall Council meet the remaining costs.

Town Mayor Councillor Geoffrey Evans C.C said, “The shuttle bus service truly reflects the type of public service that the Town Council supports and it is wonderful that an updated bus has been provided by OTS which shows their commitment to the service”.

Ben Moore of OTS said, “This April we were awarded the contract by Cornwall Council to operate the Shuttle Bus for a further two years. Over the past few years we have built up a mix of loyal regulars and delighted visitors and I am really pleased that we have been able to provide an updated and more accessible bus which will further improve the service we offer”.

The Shuttle Bus links the car parks and Falmouth’s Town railway station with the main streets and attractions. Operating from Monday to Saturday, the bus departs every 20 minutes from the Quarry car park (entrance) running via The Moor (for Town Hall, Library, Art Gallery and Piazza with Packet Memorial) before moving through the retail centre of the town and onto the Dell car park, Woodlane (University) and Killigrew Street.

Concession Card Holders travel free, and the fare is only £1.00, a flat daily rate with “Hop On ~ Hop Off” as often as you like.
