Visit by our Breton twins 4th/8th September, 2007.

I am sure that those of you who were involved in this visit will agree with me that it was one of the best. Of course, the glorious weather helped. Angela has very kindly typed out a Report (with a few additions by Nigel) and this is attached. I am most grateful to Angela. It is encouraging when other members offer their help. Letters of thanks have been sent to various people and it remains for me, at Nigel's request, to thank all those who offered hospitality, who participated in the events, to those who sent donations and especially to all who helped behind the scenes and here I am thinking especially of Sandy, Peppi and their crew who worked so hard to make our evening at the Flushing Sailing Club such an enjoyable event, not forgetting all the helpers in the kitchen who cleared up after our departure! We have received several letters and e-mails from our twins saying how much they enjoyed their visit. I have sent write-ups to the press and these appeared in the Falmouth Packet (I9th Sept) and the West Briton (27th Sept). There is also a photo accompanying the write-up in the West Briton.

I understand from Nigel that we have already been invited to visit Douarnenez next September.

Visit from our German Twins.
It is anticipated that they will come over in May 2008. No further information available at the moment.

FUND-RAISING:
Our grateful thanks to Sheila & Harold Smith for hosting such a successful Coffee Morning at their home on the 17th July. Our thanks also to those who attended and for the gifts of raffle prizes, bric-a-brac, second-hand books and cakes and to Joy Thomas for the beautiful hand-made cards. The event raised a profit of £103.20.

TUESDAY 16th OCTOBER
Pat & Keith Duffelen have kindly offered to host our next Coffee Morning. A booking form is attached which please complete and return to Pat & Keith so that they will have an idea of numbers. Please do your best to attend as we need to raise funds towards the cost of entertaining our German guests.

If any of you would like to help by putting on a future fund-raising event, please contact Nigel (telephone number above) with details.

TWINNING COMMITTEE FOR CORNWALL
AGM & CONFERENCE Sunday 18th November at the Hotel Riviera, Newquay, commencing 10.00 a.m. A Booking form is attached giving you all the details. Last year Falmouth's attendance was greater than that of any other Twinning Committee so let's try to equal, if not surpass, the number this year. It promises to be an interesting Conference as we have Lady Mary Holborow as our guest speaker. Please detach the lower part of the booking form and return to Bill with your cheque. Don't forget to tick which main course you have selected as a reminder when you sit down to lunch'.

Best wishes to you all.
