Falmouth to Honour Britain’s Armed Forces Past, Present and Future

The Town Council is delighted to announce that Falmouth will host Cornwall’s Armed Forces Day on Saturday, 22nd June 2013.

Preparations are already well under way and a Working Party has been formed to ensure that the day will be a high profile event that can be enjoyed by Armed Forces past and present and future.

The Chairman of the Working Party Robert Sturland, Deputy Lieutenant of Cornwall said ‘The aim of Armed Forces Day is to raise the profile of the Armed Forces in Cornwall, past, present and future, bringing Service personnel, Cadets and Veterans’ organisations together at a major public event involving all generations and sectors of the Local Community’.

Town Mayor Councillor Geoffrey Evans C.C, added: ‘We owe a great deal to our men and women in the Armed Forces and this special day will be an important way for Falmouth to show its gratitude’.

Falmouth’s event will be held as part of the annual, national Armed Forces Day campaign that gives everyone the opportunity to show their support for the men and women of the Armed Forces past, present and future, including serving troops, Service families, Reservists, veterans and cadets.

The UK Armed Forces defend the country and its interests. Every day of the year they are busy working around the world, promoting peace, delivering aid, tackling drug smugglers in addition to providing security and fighting terrorism.
