FALMOUTH GREEN CORRIDOR FORUM LAUNCHES NEW WEBSITE

The Falmouth Green Corridor Forum (FGCF) has announced the launch of its new website which may be accessed at https://falmouthgreencorridor.org.uk/

The FGCF is a community volunteer group formed last year to conserve, enhance and promote the woodlands, habitats, ecosystem and green spaces which border the Bickland Stream as it flows from its source at Kergilliack to its outlet at Swanpool Beach.

The Forum was established by three community conservation groups active along the green corridor, these being, Friends of Tregoniggie Woodland, Prislow Woods Community Project and Swanpool Forum. Members of these groups were joined in the Forum by representatives from Cornwall Council, Falmouth Town Council, Environment Agency, South West Water, Falmouth Civic Society, Cornwall Wildlife Trust, Exeter University, Falmouth Marine Conservation, Westcountry Rivers Trust and individuals with interests and expertise in nature conservation.

The website has been developed by Forum member Jennifer Carter and contains general information on the green corridor, an outline of various projects, such as the Yellow Fish campaign, and a section for posting agendas and minutes of Forum meetings. More information will be added over the coming weeks, and it is hoped that members of the public who have any relevant information, comments or images will also submit these for posting on the website.

The Forum’s Chair, Tony Parker, said, “Although the Covid - 19 situation has curtailed many of our activities we have taken the opportunity to develop and launch a website which will provide a focal point and information base for all those dedicated to the conservation and enhancement of the Falmouth Green Corridor. We shall be ready to continue our work, with renewed enthusiasm, as soon as government guidelines allow.”
