Falmouth is among a record breaking 1424 parks and green spaces to receive a Green Flag Award

Kimberley Park has received a Green Flag Award which is a national award for public and community parks and green spaces which recognizes well-managed, high-quality green spaces. It is one of three Falmouth Parks to be so recognised in 2012.

To celebrate the success a Green Flag will be raised in Kimberley Park on 18th July prior to Love Parks Week which runs from the 21st to 29th July.

Town Clerk Mark Williams said ‘We know that Kimberley Park is a wonderful community asset close to the Town Centre and that it has received ongoing and substantial improvements by the Council in recent times so it is fantastic that it has been recognised nationally as well’.

Cormac Solutions Ltd are contracted by the Town Council and are responsible for the grounds and facilities maintenance in the park, including the planting and horticultural displays. Cormac staff will be present for the raising of the flag. Town Mayor Councillor Geoffrey Evans said ‘it is thanks to the good working partnership that the Town Council has with Cormac Solutions that the park has been chosen for a Green Flag Award. The groundsmen have worked extremely hard and have created an area for everyone to enjoy’.

The parks status will be raised further when a new play area is installed. The Town Council have been working in partnership with Kimberley Park Residents Group and Groundworks to design a play area for the park that has been developed by what the community has said they want to see and use. The works should commence in August which will further enhance the facilities in the park.
