Community Newsletter

A Community Newsletter named Fathom is currently being distributed to over 10,000 households in Falmouth.

Falmouth Town Council is aware that much is happening in our community at present and this publication aims to provide information and topical detail about Falmouth and what is occurring locally. There are many publications and sources which cater to our visitors and through the newsletter the Council wishes to ensure that all residents are afforded the same opportunity.

Fathom aims to provide a varied mix of content that is of interest to all people of all ages, genders and backgrounds. Further still it is hoped that it will promote a sense of pride and place within the community relative to past achievements, the current activities that Falmouth Town Council are pursuing and its future vision.

The Town Clerk, Mark Williams, stated ‘A great deal of hard work and thought has gone into getting the Community Newsletter off the ground and not only has the editorial been carefully considered but also the ongoing costs. As a result the newsletter is published on recycled paper and it will be distributed on a quarterly basis to ensure best value for money’.

Sames & Littlejohns who have undertaken the publication commented that ‘prior to undertaking any scope of creative work we undertook a rigorous 'brief focus' exercise, whereby we identified the projects overall communication aims and objectives, and established a desired tone and feel for the publication. The conclusions of this exercise ultimately helped to guide us towards the end creative and editorial resolve, and more importantly ensured that the final solution was an ‘effective communications tool’ fit for purpose’.

Fathom is the official community newsletter for Falmouth Town and the Town Council’s aim is that the people of Falmouth take ownership of this publication by actively contributing content.
