Commanding Officer calls in on the Town Mayor

St Albans VisitCommanding Officer, Commander Catherine Jordan and Sub Lieutenant George Coombes of HMS St Albans received a warm welcome from the Town Mayor, Councillor John Body and his wife Linda, during its visit to Falmouth this month. The welcoming party also included the Town Manager, Richard Gates and Falmouth’s Royal Naval Liaison Officer, Lt Cdr Mike Lynch.

Councillor Body is serving his first Term of Office as Town Mayor following his election in May this year and already he has attended a vast variety of civic engagements including Falmouth University Graduation Show, Fal River Festival Launch, Pendennis Cup and he has even met with the Red Arrow Pilots.

HMS St Albans visit to Falmouth provided the Town Mayor with his first opportunity to welcome a Naval Ship to Falmouth. The Town Mayor stated ‘This was my first visiting ‘Captain’s call’ as Town Mayor and it was a pleasure to meet Commander Jordan, to welcome HMS St Albans to our Town and learn about her operational duties. Falmouth has a close and long association with the Royal Navy and I am pleased to be able to recognise and continue that’.

Commander Jordan said ‘I have been fortunate to visit Falmouth five times in 3 different Royal Navy Warships but for many of the Ship’s Company it was their first visit.  We received a really warm welcome and it was a great location for the team to recuperate prior to our next period of trials at sea.  They would all like to visit again!”
