Acts of Remembrance - First Poppy Laying

The Mayor, Councillor Steve Eva, laid the first poppy at the Remembrance Garden, The Municipal Building on Friday to mark the start of this year Acts of Remembrance. A small service was attended by Councillors, Veterans and members of the public. The Service was led by Reverend Stephen Tudgey and the Last Post was played by Hayden Thompson. This will be the last time this Act Of Remembrance will be held at the Municipal Building as the Remembrance Garden is being relocated to Kimberley Park and the Town Council looks forward to holding this service in the new Remembrance Garden in future years. The town’s Annual Service of Remembrance will be held at the Kimberley Park War Memorial on Sunday 10th November at 11am. All are welcome. We shall also mark the 11th hour of the 11th day at the Prince of Wales Pier with a short service and two minutes silence.
