Author talk: An Evening with Cathy and Agatha: The story behind The Agatha Christie Cure

When

Where

Falmouth Library
Municipal Buildings, The Moor, Falmouth, Cornwall, TR11 2RT, Cornwall

One Christmas, when life felt complicated, Cathy Rentzenbrink did what many readers have done before her: she reached for an Agatha Christie novel.

Then she kept going.

Starting at the beginning, she began reading Christie’s books again in the order they were published. What began as a return to some much-loved stories gradually turned into a much longer journey through Christie’s life, her extraordinary run of novels, and the peculiar comforts of spending a lot of time in the company of the Queen of Crime.

Join Cathy for an informal evening of stories about Christie’s books, the surprises that appear when you read them one after another, and what it’s like to follow the twists and turns of one of the most remarkable writing careers in literary history.

No prior knowledge of alibis, arsenic or Belgian detectives required.

Those adventures eventually became Cathy’s new book, The Agatha Christie Cure, which will be published in September. This event offers an early glimpse of the project and a chance to spend an evening with Cathy and, in spirit at least, with Agatha.

Free tickets to this event can be booked either by emailing falmouth.library@liscornwall.org.uk or speaking to the Library team.

This event is part of a series celebrating 130 years of the Passmore Edwards Free Library in Falmouth.

About the author

Cathy Rentzenbrink is an amiable bookworm, a writer of fiction and non-fiction who chairs literary events and speaks on life, death, love, and literature. Unusually extravert for a writer, she likes talking to strangers, is a lover not a fighter, and is determined to cling onto her faith in humanity. Twice divorced, she lives in Cornwall with her son and cat. She has been extremely keen on Agatha Christie since she was nine years old and her next book The Agatha Christie Cure will be out in September.
