In view of the anticipated level of the Coronavirus contagion and the Council’s duty of care, it is with great regret that it has been decided by the Mayor of Falmouth, Councillor Steve Eva and Eric Dawkins of the St Nazaire Society to cancel the St Nazaire Services of Remembrance on Sunday 29th March. A graveside service was scheduled for 9.00am at Falmouth Cemetery and the main Service of Remembrance was scheduled for 11am on the Prince of Wales Pier. We plan to reschedule these Services of Remembrance later in the year.

Statement as to Persons Nominated

As a consequence of the Covid-19 virus and the need for social distancing, the Returning Officer at Cornwall Council has taken the decision to suspend the scheduled by-election for the Town Council Penwerris Ward which was due on 9th April 2020. We understand the election will take place on a new date to be announced.

Public Conveniences to Close Temporarily from 27th March 2020

At a meeting of the Town Council’s Virus action group held on the 18th March 2020, it was decided that closing public conveniences was necessary to protect the public, the decision was not taken lightly as the Council recognise the importance of these facilities which is the reason that the Town took over the responsibility for them nearly 7 years ago thus preventing permanent closure. Whilst the science regarding infection is formative the Council feels this will further restrict opportunities for transmission of the infection.
