Boslowick By-Election

Alan James Jewell, the Conservative Party Candidate, is elected to the Town Council.

The number of votes recorded for each candidate at the election is as follows:

Alan James Jewell (Conservative): 469 votes

Roger John Bonney (Liberal Democrats): 358 votes

Peter Joseph Dudley (Mebyon Kernow - The Party for Cornwall): 84 votes

Lesley Anne Trenchard (Labour): 71 votes

Britain in Bloom Awards

Falmouth claims a gold award, a top trophy and praise for one of its primary schools at this years Britain in Bloom Awards.

Falmouth Town Council has been working in partnership with Cornwall Council's Environmental Service, local schools and community groups to build upon last years success and this year they have scooped a gold award in the Portman Cup, the category for large towns.

In addition, the town's Gyllyngdune and Queen Mary gardens were named the "best in the west" and won the Abbis Trophy, an award nominated at the judges' discretion.
