Town Mayor’s Tide Race Returns to Maenporth Beach on Sunday 30 August

The much-loved Town Mayor’s Tide Race will return to Maenporth Beach on Sunday 30 August 2026, following its successful revival by Town Mayor, Councillor Alan Jewell, last year. 

The family-friendly fundraising event invites participants of all ages to build a sandcastle – or even the biggest sand mound they can – before the incoming tide washes it away. With prizes available in both the Adult and Junior categories, the event promises an afternoon of fun, creativity and friendly competition. 

This year’s Tide Race will raise funds for the Town Mayor’s chosen charity, Pendennis Leisure, supporting its efforts to secure a new swimming pool for Falmouth. 

The event runs from 12.00pm to 6.00pm, with digging beginning at 12.30pm. Participants are encouraged to bring their own buckets, spades and any other equipment needed to create their masterpiece. 

A suggested donation of £5 for adults and £2.50 for children is requested, with all proceeds going directly to Pendennis Leisure.
