Falmouth Town Council have identified a number of headstones that have been damaged as a result of Storm Goretti in January 2026 when a number of trees fell in the cemetery and during recent memorial inspections it has come to our attention that the memorials that were hit by a fallen tree have either failed a wobble test and/or are broken and/or were knocked over.

It is normally the responsibility of grave owners to arrange and pay for repairs to damaged memorials in their ownership, however due to the unprecedented nature of the storm damage, the Town Council will make the reasonable reinstatement repairs at its cost.

If you are the owner of one of the graves damaged during Storm Goretti, or a family member acting on their behalf, please contact the Town Council to confirm whether you agree to the Council arranging repair works on your behalf.

Please make contact by 30 June 2026. If we do not hear from you by this date, the Town Council will appoint an accredited stonemason to carry out any necessary repairs to the memorials.

Please contact the Town Council Office on 01326 315559 or email admin@falmouthtowncouncil.com
