Town Mayor’s Civic Service
On Sunday, the Mayor of Falmouth held his annual Civic Service at King Charles the Martyr Church to commemorate the beginning of the new civic year and officially inaugurate the new Mayor to civic leader and the local community.
The Mayor of Falmouth Councillor Alan Jewell held his civic service on Sunday 19th October at King Charles the Martyr Church which started with a parade led by Pendennis Brass Band from The Moor followed by an 11:00 AM service.
The Civic Service is a tradition to mark the beginning of the new civic year which officially inaugurates the new Mayor and the service officially introduces the new Mayor to civic leaders and the community. Civic dignitaries in attendance included The Vice Lord Lieutenant, The Member of Parliament for Truro and Falmouth, Mayors from towns across Cornwall, RFA Mounts Bay Commanding Officer, Associations, heads of local businesses and the Mayors family and friends.
Reverend Geoff Davis lead the service with greetings from the Town Mayor and readings by Town Councillors, with Falmouth School pupils leading the prayers and an introduction to the Mayors Charity Pendennis Leisure.
Following the service guests attended a buffet reception in the Atherton Suite.
