Quality Parish Council Status

Falmouth Town Council was formed on local government reorganisation in 1974 from the former Falmouth Borough Council. The town received Royal Charter in 1661.

Falmouth is formally twinned with Douarnenez in Brittany and Rotenburg (Wümme) in Germany and is encouraging informal cultural links with Villagarcia in Spain.

Total electorate 15,432. Total population 19,855. Area 776 hectares.

Celebrating 350 years of Falmouth's Royal Charter

A NEW BOOK that celebrates Falmouth past and present will be unveiled in the Council Chamber on Wednesday 14 December at 11am.




The Chairman of Falmouth Town Council’s Planning Committee Councillor Jenny Booth held a public meeting last month to provide an opportunity for members of the public to raise any concerns regarding the recently submitted planning application for proposed 122 houses at the former MOD land at Swanvale.




A serpent bench, a teacup and a ghost are just some of the intriguing sculptures now on show at Gyllyngdune Gardens in Falmouth. Nine works of art have been created by Year 10 Falmouth School Art students and are the result of a partnership between Gyllyngdune Gardens, University College Falmouth (UCF), Falmouth Marine School and Falmouth School.




The members of Falmouth’s Town Forum, offer the following thoughts and ambitions to the people of Falmouths around the world to commemorate the occasion of the 350th anniversary of the signing of the Royal Charter in Falmouth, Cornwall on 5 October 1661.




Scientific investigations, exciting writing, animation, Oyster Festival flag design, maths games and music-making are just some of the activities that King Charles Primary School will showcase to visitors at its annual Open Day on Saturday 8 October 2011.






On October 5th 1661 King Charles II granted the royal charter to Falmouth establishing it as a town and giving its citizens certain rights.




To honour the occasion, on ‘Charter Day’ there will be free entry for all TR10 and TR11 residents on proof of residence* to Pendennis Castle, Wednesday 5th October. King Charles II awarded Falmouth its town charter in 1661 in recognition of the loyalty shown to his father, King Charles, by in 1646, refusing to surrender Pendennis Castle to the Parliamentarian army.




Falmouth Town Council, Visit Cornwall and Cornwall Council are delighted to announce the future of tourist Information in Falmouth looks to have been secured. It is planned that a new Visitor Information Centre will operate from the previous TIC offices on Prince of Wales Pier, on Monday 1st August, with a new style of service operated by Cornwall Ferries Ltd.





One of the biggest film studios in the world is set to use Falmouth, Cornwall, as a key location for a multi-million pound zombie thriller being filmed this summer. The Paramount Pictures production World War Z will be partially shot onboard a ship from August 2nd to August 12th. In advance of the filming Paramount has issued an urgent call for extras, with casting taking place this Saturday (July 16th) and Sunday (July 17th) from 10am until 5pm in the gymnasium at Truro School.
