The government has recognised the special needs of coastal communities and has supported the creation of over 100 coastal community teams. The Falmouth Area Coastal Community Team was created in September 2015 and brings together a real cross section of organisations from across the town:

The Coastal Communities Team is currently working up a strategy for the development of the community, in conjunction with the work on the Neighbourhood Plan, giving a special focus to the maritime aspects of the town. This will be published for consultation at the end of January 2016.
We are delighted to say that, in December 2015, we were successful in a grant application to the Coastal Renewal Fund. Some £20,000 is being contributed to the Royal Cornwall Polytechnic Society, to support their project to improve disabled access to their historic building.
