Falmouth residents are urged to have their say on Houses in Multiple Occupation

If you would like to see the growth of houses of multiple occupation (HMO’s) in Falmouth managed effectively, this is your chance to have your say.

The Planning Policy Working Party members which included Falmouth and Penryn Town Councillors, Council Officers and a Community Plan representative, met earlier this month to plan the best way forward to manage the increasing number of multiple occupancy properties in the town and the Working Party agreed that Falmouth & Penryn should implement an Article 4 Direction to restrict HMO’s in and around Falmouth & Penryn.

Falmouth & Penryn Household Waste Recycling Centre Opens

Residents living in the Falmouth & Penryn area can now take advantage of a new Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) which opened on Valentine’s Day.

Julian German, Cabinet Member for Waste Management, Climate Change and Historic Environment said: “This is a fantastic new facility which many people in the area have been looking forward to using. With thirteen HWRC’s across Cornwall we are making it easier and easier for residents to recycle as much as possible.”

Fairtrade Fortnight: 28th Feb to 13th March

To celebrate Falmouth’s 6th year as a Fairtrade Town the Fairtrade Falmouth team have produced a programme of lively activities around Falmouth to highlight the importance of fair trading globally and locally.

The team will be providing tasters of Fairtrade Coffee, Tea, Wine, Chocolate and Biscuits from several diverse locations including The Farmers Market on 1st March and Phoenix Cinema on12th March.

The annual Coffee mornings at Methodist Church and All Saints Church and Tea Dance at St Mary’s Hall will provide opportunities for discussion and inspiration.
